Event Notice: Summer Picnic 2018

Summer is here, and we are now preparing for our annual summer picnic.  This year it takes place on Sunday, August 12 at Thomson Memorial Park Area C from 11 a.m.  It is located at 1005 Brimley Rd., N. of Lawrence Avenue, Scarborough.  Fee is $2 per person. Free for children 10 years old and under.  Come out for a day of fun with games, bingo and fukubiki.  Bring your own bento.

今年も夏がやってきました。トロント福岡県人会では毎年恒例のピクニックの準備をしています。8月12日(日)にThomson Memorial Park (1005 Brimley Rd., N. of Lawrence Avenue, Scarborough)、 Area Cに来て、楽しい1日を過ごしましょう!午前11時に開催します。ゲーム、ビンゴ、福引などを用意して待っています。参加費は$2で、10歳以下は無料です。お弁当は持参でお願いします。

Event Notice: AGM and Social 2018

It’s that time of year again.  This year’s Annual General Meeting and Social will be held on Sunday, March 25, at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.  The program starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m.  Make sure you RSVP.  Bring your friends and family for a fun filled afternoon.  The membership fee costs $5.  If you are 80 years and over, and are a member, you will get a free bento.  Otherwise the bento cost is $15. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to take part in the entertainment portion (karaoke, dancing, etc.).

Toronto’s Kenpi Student Blog

As a member of the Toronto Fukuoka Kenjinkai, you can apply to become a student at a Fukuoka post-secondary institution for one year.  The prefecture will pay for many of your expenses, but in exchange you will have to take part in the activities the prefecture organization provides for you (with the other students from various Fukuoka Kenjinkais) and abide by their rules.  Last year, Toronto’s first participant in the program went to Japan.  She is keeping a blog (mostly in Japanese) so please take a look.
