Toronto Fukuoka Kenjinkai is one of three Fukuoka Kenjinkais in Canada (the other two are located in Vancouver and Lethbridge). It is a social club for those with roots in Fukuoka prefecture on Kyushu island in Japan.  It was founded in 1980 and currently has over 100 members. The main activities and events include the annual AGM and social in the spring, a family picnic in the summer, and the Furusato no Yube social event in the fall.  The Toronto Fukuoka Kenjinkai also takes part in the Nikkei Kids Day event at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto during the March Break.  The group is supported by the Fukuoka International Exchange Foundation which provides special funding as well as awards for seniors and study opportunities for students.
